National 12 stage

Road relays

Gravesend Kent

28th March

Having not competed at National 12 stage since 2010 when we didn't finish, but this year saw a mixture of ages travel up the day before to make sure all prepared and fresh as to give us best chance of qualifying in top 25 for National 12 stage, The venue was on Cyclopark in Gravesend on a closed Road bike circuit which gave a faultless undulating course so perfect for some great racing. The race sees 6 short legs 4.8k and 6 long legs 7.2k

1st up was was u20 GB athelte Oliver fox who was on a long leg and was always within the front group and finishing within 14sec of 1st place in 5th for 19min 48 sec

2nd up Short leg saw Pete Grist on recently redoing us held his own on a leg that saw some international runners, Pete ran 14.25 to keep us close to top 10 in 11th

3rd Long leg saw Luke Prior another u20 on the back of some recent good xc performances run a very competive 20.45 to bring us back in 13th place

4th Saw Alex Wiltshire hold our position at 13 this not surprising as he ran our fastest short leg of the day in 14.07 well done Alex warm weather training most have paid off

5th Saw Matthew Dickinson Welsh international back racing after a nightmare 12 months to come back with a bang to keep us in 13th and a time of 20min 20

6th Saw Mike Glover making his debut 46yr old and ran a great leg showing plenty left in those legs with a great run and gave everything in 15.25 and 14th still top 15

7th Jack Bancroft looking good after his previous run at Inter counties week before to keep us in top 15 in 14th in 20.10

8th Jacob Longman making his debut as well he gave everything and was reward with 15.58 and still in 14th and looking like we could qualify

9th Sam Somerville another top u20 again off the back of some great racing saw him climb Wells back up the leader board to 13th in 21.06

10th Team manager Simon Prior laced his racing shoes up and a break from ultra running with the aim not to lose to many places managed to hang on to 14th in 16.14 a top 25 seemed realistic

11th Chris Green 10 days after having a metal plate removed from his shoulder did his bit for the team to keep us in 15th place in 22.23

12th Saw Andrew Deamer doing his bit also having traveled with Chris on the day to have the glory to bring us home in 16th and qualify for National
