Wells City Harriers have a long tradition of organising various races and events across the area and we have helped various other community groups to ensure that their events are organised to a good standard.
Our main flagship event is the Clive & Angela Thomas Street 5k Road Race Series, and accompanying 1k and 2k junior races held on the second Wednesday of every month between October and March. Enter the Series on line, in advance, for best entry discount with additional discounts for England Athletics members as usual. First Timers at Street Night 5k will get an award and pb awards through the Series along with other caegory awards and spot prizes! Suitable for all abilities.
We also assist the following races which are organised by separate communities/committees to raise money for local causes; Babcary road race; Butleigh Multi-terrain race; Wells Fun Runs; Baltonsborough road race; and in addition we nominate a number of our races to be part of the Somerset Race Series. The entry details and forms for the various races are usually linked from this webpage, but any enquiries should be made direct to the race committees/organisers.
The Street Series is back in October 2019 and it will be the 31st year of the Series. In 2018-19, the 30th Series saw Helen Southcott & Tom Dukes finishing top in the Series.
Any enquiries prior to the Series starting should be directed to the new Race Series Director Lynne Elstob. Race results, photos and any report will be posted up within a day or two of the race on the Front Page. Reports and results from all races last year can also be seen below
Race the Night 5k: Clive & Angela Thomas Street 5k Series and junior races over 1km and 2km.
2018/19 was the 30th year of this Street Series and saw editions 175 to 180 take place. 2nd Wednesday of every month October to March.
Edition 181 is on Wednesday 9th October 2019.
Use the Street 5k road race as a monthly time trial to see if you can get fitter and quicker!
Junior races: 1k recommended for school years 5 & 6; 2k recommended for school years 7 & 8.
Minimum age for 5k is age 11 but we would encourage talented 11 and 12 years olds instead to try to break the 2k course records
The Series is known as the Clive & Angela Thomas Series as they were the initiators of the Series back in 1989 as a monthly time trial to encourage local runners of all abilities to get fitter and quicker!
