Wells City Harrier members have been competing in force this past week at local multi- terrain and road races. The local organisers of the Butleigh village 10k multi-terrain race on Sunday April 14th were pleased to see 130 finishers on a glorious day for running. Earlier in the week the first of the seasons Yeovilton 5k races took place with 18 Harriers amongst the 188 finishers. Christian Green was 1st Harrier Home at Butleigh, and 1st ( in 13th place) at Yeovilton, with Daisy Davies 1st for the females overall.

 

The Butleigh race, now in its 38th year, raises funds for the Butleigh Playing fields and has support from Harrier members to ensure everything goes to plan.

 

Full results for the Butleighrace are available on the Butleigh Parish Council website and also via Power of ten. First home this year, retaining the trophy he won last year, was the Harrier’s Christian Green in a time of 37.20. 6th overall and 1st u18 was Will Pate in 43.25, and completing the top ten was 1st V50 Steve Masters in 44.50.

Earlier in the week (Wed 10th) 18 Harriers contested the Yeovilton 5k Road Race with many of the junior Harriers in particular recording personal bests. Christian Green was first for the Harriers in 13th place (16.09) with senior Club coach Jon James on his shoulder to be 1st V50 in 16.11. That time takes Jon to the top of the national rankings for his age group. 1st female home was the Harrier’s 16 year old Daisy Davies in a pb of 17.42.
