The 30th year of the Wells City Harriers Street 5k Series gets underway next Wednesday 10th October at 7.30pm. Enter on the night at the race HQ - United Reform Church hall, opposite Living Homes store, off the High Street. 5 laps of 1k with split timing clock. 1k race for those in School years 5 & 6; 2k race for those in School years 7 & 8. Free bottle of local Cider or apple juice for all Park runners running Street race for first time. Wells City Harriers have been organising the Street 5k races on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, between October and March, since 1989 – this season will be the 30th year and the race on Wednesday October 10th will be edition number 175 in that sequence.
Split timing will again be available with the help of the race clock – visible every lap. Encouragement from marshals on every lap. Please arrive early (between 6.30 and 7pm) to complete your entry form and pay the entry fee - £5 for those runners who are members of England Athletics; £7 for non-affiliated. Juniors pay £2 to enter the 1k or 2k races. Races start at 7.30pm on Farm Road, Street, outside British Legion Club. (Race entry at the United Reform Church hall, off Orchard Road, opp Living Homes store, no later than 7.15pm).
FREE BOTTLE OF local CIDER or APPLE JUICE to all that run in a Parkrun on Saturday 6th October and then compete at Street! Presentations after the race in Church Hall at 8.15pm-8.30pm. Welcome to anyone who is new to this event - for all ages and abilities.

AUTUMN TRAINING sessions now up and running
The floodlights are now in use at the Club’s coached evening sessions at Millfield School, Street for the junior session (age 8-15) on the Monday (start 6pm-finish 7.15pm this month); and for the senior speed session (age 15- 75) on a Tuesday (start 6.30pm- finish 7.30pm). Register in announcers hut, track side and pay £2 if member or £3 if not a member of the Harriers. (Fees pay for track hire)First taster session free.
The Wednesday sessions are now held under the street lights in Wells – beginners and improvers group for those relatively new to running; & longer distance group. Gather up outside Wells Rugby Club 6.30pm-6.40pm for up to an hour long session.

Friday 30th November Harrier Annual Dinner for members at Wells Golf Club, (7pm onwards) with 2 course meal, Quiz, and draw for the Club’s London Marathon places - please reserve your place asap and pay, giving menu choice. Tuesday 18th December Harrier fun track night (2 person parlauf effort 6.30pm) followed by Curry meal, Street (8pm onwards). Again, the Club subsidises the costs. Please give your name and choice of meat or veggie curry at Tuesday training no later than 11th December.

Juniors and seniors are encouraged to compete at the forthcoming Cross-country fixtures of the Gwent League (selected dates) or Wessex League. Club registrations have been paid. Get ready for Championshp races starting in December. Youngsters - use these League races to get ready for Schools Championships!
