Congratulations to Matt Lusby who was first home on the very muddy and hilly Big Cheese race. Held on the 17th March, starting and finishing in Cheddar, The Big Cheese is a 15 mile off-road fell race across the Mendips Hills, with over 2000ft of climbing. The Big Cheese was the 3rd race in the Somerset Series

Matt was rewarded with a selection of cheese and crackers, complemented by a few Cheddar Ales for being first across the finish line.

The route followed closed roads around the town centre before heading along the entire length of Yeovil Country Park. The route then left the town on the western side to Montacute House, before returning on quiet country roads to the Town Centre finish in the Quedam Shopping Centre.

Another half marathon was taking place on 24th March in Fleet. Organised by Fleet & Crookham AC, the race is popular with runners testing their legs and practising their race routine in preparation for the London Marathon in April. Four Harriers made the journey to Hampshire, hoping for strong performances. Despite some strong winds, the conditions were near perfect.
