These races have been taking place on the 2nd Wednesday of the month over the October to March period since 1989. (Were you at the first one?). This time there was 30 Harriers in the field and on this occasion Junior Harrier Sam Bedford, age 17, swept to victory in a time of 16.52, pulling clear of Ed Stahl of Crewkerne who had kept him company on 4 of the 5 laps. Fellow Harriers Andrew Deamer and Phillip Bridge were 3rd and 5th respectively.
Nick Somerville of the Harriers won the V50 award when finishing 9th. First lady home was evergreen Linda Lascelles of Maiden Newton Runners in 19.12 with Dawn Holley 2nd 20.05 and talented Harrier youngster Lucy Baldwin making her debut at this distance with her 20.24. There were 4 of the Rusca family competing on the night with dad Mike finishing in 21.56 and with older daughter Megan in 24.54; and wife Jacqui 27.14; whilst younger daughter Louise competed in the 2km race.
Other notable runs by the Harriers include Zach Stephenson, 18.42, Sam Harding with another pb with18.44 and Neil Biss with 18.45.
